Why Choose is a queer-Black-woman-owned pop-up bookstore experience focused on uplifting the voices of historically and systemically excluded and marginalized groups.
Owned and managed by Professional Book Person and Diversity Olympics Winner Jessica P. Pryde, this bookstore and all its parts have been a long time in the making. While the focus is on the work of the underrepresented, under-celebrated, and underserved in romance, you can find romances of all kinds at our book sales, and will be able to special order them online in the future.
Why Why Choose?
Why Choose is a romance term that replaces a less-great phrase indicating a romance featuring several love interests who all take part in the HEA. It’s a joyful conclusion in which everybody gets to be loved, and where love has no limits, whether it’s romantic, platonic, or somewhere in-between. It was chosen as the name of Tucson’s first romance book club as a wink at the fact that we never talk about just one book at our meetings. Then it was lovingly stolen for the name of this here bookstore, because why choose one HEA when you can have them all?
